>The tree's being built in multiple components at two locations. If you haven't seen what's going on over at American Steel, wow, stop by and take a look... Steve Valdez and crew are working their tails off over there and the branches are looking incredible! Major props to Steve et al. for creating something so massive and beautiful in such a short amount of time.
>The Tree is nearly barked, the house is getting there as well. We're all part of something really big here and it continues to take a big effort by everyone to make it happen. This is an incredible experience and an incredible crew. Let's all continue to make a big push the next week and a half and finish this thing! There are regular work days and nights until we go. A few more photos...

July 28, 2007 :: the walls are up!
IMG_2256-sm
>Hey! Interior designers! The Tree House walls are up and ready for you to work your magic on them. You've been waiting to turn the house into a distressed victorian study-by way of mad scientist/airship captain's laboratory? Now's your chance, get crackin'. It's time for the detail work!

Come on by this weekend and help us to create the interior space.

We'll be down at NIMBY from 1:00PM on... on both Saturday and Sunday. If you can't make it this weekend, we've got regular work days every night this week.

July 23, 2007 :: Tree-minus 30 days and counting...

>Thanks to everyone who came out to hear my talk at the Desert Arts Preview!

Your support was appreciated. For those of you that weren't there, the Tree was very well received; there's a lot of excitement about this project.

The deadline for us to finish the Tree is fast approaching. There's less than a month left to go before we begin to load our trucks for the trip to the playa.

There's still lots to do, so if you were waiting till crunch time to join in... well here it is... it's crunch time.... we need everyone on board and working hard for the next month if we're going to pull this off. This is going to be one of the coolest things on the playa and you are (or will be) a part of it...

>Gusset fabrication

>THIS THURSDAY
>
7PM to 10:30PM @ BM HQ in SF (1900 3rd St, btwn. 16th & Mariposa)
>Sean O. will be there representing on behalf of the Tree and its minions. He'll speak on the project's inspiration, conception, construction, the 2007 green theme, and on the challenges of industrial art and urban forestry.

>Work Nights, every night this week (except Thursday): we'll be finishing the sub floor structure of the house segment. If you were invovled in the floor fabriacation, please come by and lend a hand. The building materials for the walls will be in on Wednesday (not Thursday). A strong house crew in attendance on Wednesday is ideal so we can start framing things out. We're also going to bring the upper trunk and branches to American Steel on Wednesday, and we can use some help with transport and assembly. There's still plenty of work to do on the trunk. We need a tightly stitched crew of trunk fabricators this week to measure, cut, bend and weld... Contact The Tree

July 03, 2007 :: OK everyone... here it is... 49 days left until we leave for the playa!

>Work nights are Tuesday (07/03) and Thursday (07/05) this week beginning at 7:00 pm. We'll also be working on Sat (07/07) & Sun (07/08) beginning at 1:00 pm.
>Starting on July 15th, we're opening up work nights to EVERY DAY/NIGHT.
>We've done a lot and we're getting there. Yet, we have no time to waste and a whole lot of work to do if the project's going to remain on schedule. If you've promised your time and skills, now is the time to ante up. We have just over a month to create one of the most impressive and unique projects to hit the playa in this year.

Fabrication/ Construction:
We have work nights this week on Tuesday and Thursday. I'd like to take some time on Thursday night to have a general check in to get everyone on task and to set up a timeline and game plan as we get closer to arriving on the playa. Rock star Katy Bell will be joining us this Thursday to talk about installation and early arrival scheduling. Beginning on July 15th, I'm opening up work nights to EVERY DAY/NIGHT. If you can't make Thursday, come on Monday... if you can't make Monday, come on Saturday.
There will be plenty to do. If you know of anyone with metal or wood working skills that's looking for a fun project, have them contact the Tree.

The main project for the entire month of July is the house!
>Sub-floor fabrication
>Steel stud wall construction
>Wall treatments and interior design
>Roof construction
>gusset fabrication
>balcony fabrication

As always, if you know of anyone who would be interested or willing to donate to the project, please have them contact me, or they can donate through the website. Any donations are tax-deductible thanks to The Crucible.

July 02, 2007 :: Tree House Update
The floor of the house has finally arrived. I'm going to need a good crew this week to begin fabrication and assembly on the floor so that we can start building the house ASAP. Come on by NIMBY this Tuesday (07/03) and Thursday (07/05) and lend a hand. It's crunch time and now that the floor material is in, the house can start to to take shape

The trunk is coming along and is starting to look really great. It's starting to take shape, but there's still lots of cutting and welding and bending to do.

The upper trunk and structural branches will be finished this week and the whole upper section will be moved over to American Steel and Steve Valdez, on Thursday, to make it easier for him and his crew to fabricate the branches within a larger space. If you're interested in being a part of the branch construction & fabrication crew,
let me know.
